There are more than 260 different types of monkeys on the earth. They are separated into two Major categories:



1. New world monkeys

2. Old world monkeys



New world monkeys:



       These new world monkeys majorly lives in America, These were categorized based on the prehensile tailed monkeys





Old world Monkeys:



      These old world monkeys majorly lives majorly in Africa and Asia, These were categorized based on the non prehensile tailed monkeys or no tailed monkeys.



These monkeys were born 60 million years ago, i.e A 6 crores of years ago



The smallest one is Pygmy marmoset which is 4.6 inches in height and 100 grams in weight.



The biggest monkey is Male Mandril which is almost 3.3 feet in height and 36 KG in weight.



            These monkeys live on trees(some) or on land(some) the diets are differs from various species they eat:



Fruits

Leaves

Seeds,

Nuts,

Flowers,

Eggs and Small animals (inspects and animals)
